Speaker Bio:
Myke Clarkson is a widely respected herpetoculturalist, wildlife producer, and conservation communicator. With a career spanning several decades, Myke has contributed to the herpetology community through writing, zoo consultation, and conservation-focused media.
He is currently the President of the International Herpetological Symposium (IHS) and Herpetological Conservation International (HCI), as well as a member of the IUCN Sea Snake Specialist Group. Myke’s expertise is rooted in his deep understanding of aquatic and semi-aquatic snakes, and he advocates for evidence-based reptile care and ecologically grounded husbandry practices. He has collaborated with zoos, conservation organizations, and other herpetoculturalists to advance reptile welfare and education.
Myke has conducted fieldwork across more than 30 countries, particularly in neotropical and arid ecosystems. His contributions to the field include co-authoring the book Aquatic Snakes: Diversity and Natural History, as well as publishing in Herpetological Review, Biawak, and other scientific journals. He is also a prominent wildlife television producer with credits on shows like Shark Week, Big Cat Week, and Dead By Dawn on Nat Geo Wild.
