SDHS Rattlesnake Night
Featuring Vincent Marcantonio: Uncovering the Effects of Human Disturbance on the Behavioral and Spatial Ecology of the Red Diamond Rattlesnake (Crotalus ruber)
Tuesday, October 20, 2026 · 7:00 PM
Balboa Park · Casa del Prado, Room 104
Join the San Diego Herpetological Society for our October meeting and an evening focused on rattlesnakes, field research, and their ecology.
Our featured presentation will be from Vincent Marcantonio, who will discuss research on the behavioral and spatial ecology of the Red Diamond Rattlesnake (Crotalus ruber), including current work looking at human disturbance, recreation, and expansion.
About Vincent
Vincent began working with Dr. Rulon Clark’s lab while an undergraduate at San Diego State University. He started on a C. ruber project at the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance Biodiversity Reserve studying the species’ behavioral and spatial ecology.
His interest in fieldwork led him to become involved with additional projects working with sidewinders, prairie rattlesnakes, and flat-tailed horned lizards.
Last year, Vincent joined a continuation of the original C. ruber project in Dr. Clark’s lab, expanding on similar research questions while looking at human disturbance, recreation, and expansion.
